Artist, studying MA Interactive Art & Design
The Gallery Phone is an interactive audio installation, created by Rebecca Gamble for the MA Interactive Art & Design exhibition Input/Output:18.01.07 The work considers the regulating forces that exist in our modern society; those that design how we interact with a space; from rules & regulations to public instructional announcements, to the voyeuristic technology of CCTV. The Gallery Phone manipulates these to give the participant a chance to interact with the gallery space in a different way.

conjured up all sorts of thoughts about who might be ringing? why don't
they say something? maybe they are in a far away country? but how would
they know the phone number of this booth? Like the 'tent' backdrop adds
to the opportunist element of the film.
Eileen says...This happens to me sometimes at home and you just can't do anything if nobody speaks to you...so you just have to leave it but you do wonder who was ringing?..
..in this situation however, you wouldn't normally answer a call box unless you had arranged for someone to ring you?...
